Description

This interesting book with colored Photos of Queens covers women of the Armenian royal court. It's some kind of continuation of the author’s previous work, Royalty: 141 Armenian Kings. Understandably the book does not include foreign queens of Armenian origin. In the Middle Ages more than one hundred Armenian women became queens of the other Christian countries, mostly in Byzantine Empire. They can be called Armenian queens, but not queens of Armenia. The queens of Armenia are defined as wives of sovereigns of Armenian state formations, and for that purpose nationality is not a decisive factor. Among the 150 queens described in this book, 103 are Armenian, one is Assyrian, eight are Parthian, six are Persian, two are Alan, nine are Greek, six are Roman, four are Georgian, ten are French, and one is Mongol.
